Not many species are capable of adapting and producing in the fragile Arid Chaco ecosystem. The Central Valley of Catamarca has already witnessed ambitious projects based on species that could not adapt to its difficult life conditions and thus had to be abandoned, along with the underlying significant investments, and the expectations of both the plantation owners and the region’s inhabitants. Grapes and peaches are two quiet examples that will unfortunately soon be followed by other species which are still in their early development stages.
Jojoba has proven itself able to progress using high genetic potential clones and adequate managing, and yield commercial production in locations where the vast majority of traditional species have failed, and the Arid Chaco area is no exception to this reality.
