This paper provides a description of the problems faced by Fincas de Ambato in setting up a commercial jojoba plantation in the Central Valley of Catamarca, listing the prevailing agronomical and climatic restrictions, and the solutions used. Its goal is to make this information available to other growers who may find it useful in managing their jojoba plantations either in the Arid Chaco area or similar ecosystems.
It is worth mentioning that the work plan described next was created based on the problems faced by a three-year old plantation, where the plant loss rate ranged between 50% and 80%, depending on the lot.
